3. Identification and differentiation. Reoviruses can be distinguished from enteroviruses,
myxoviruses, adenoviruses, respiratory syncytial virus, and other simian viruses by size, type
of CPE, resistance to ether, hemagglutination, and serology. Reoviruses are not
antigenically related to coxsackie A7, 9, 11, 13, 14, 15, or 18; to coxsackie B1-5, to
echoviruses 1-9, or to echovirus 11.
