Materials and Methods
Animals Inbred male PVG (RT?. 1) and congenic PVG-RT7b (RT7. 2) rats weighing 180 to 220 g were obtained from Harlan CPB (Zeist, The Netherlands). All animals were kept under routine laboratory conditions.
Reagents and Media Perfusion fluid consisted of om M phosphate-buffered saline (PBS), pH 7.2, containing 0.5% bovine serum albumin (BSA; Sigma Chemical Co., St. Louis, MO) and 10 U/ml heparin (Pharmaceutical Dept., Vrije Universiteit, Amsterdam, The Netherlands). Lavage fluid consisted of PBS with 0.6 mM EDTA (Sigma).
