A method is deseribed for quantitative analysis of proteins with a charge differing from that of
the bulk of the immunoglobulins. The method utilizes the difference between the rate of
electrophoretic migration of proteins and of their antibody complexes in agarose gel. The
method has an error of a few per cent; it is rapid, suitable for serial analysis, and requires 2
to 0.5 μg protein antigen. The amount of antiserum needed is slightly less than with the
radial immunodiffusion techniques.
