Platelet-activating factor acetylhydrolases are structurally diverse isoenzymes that catalyze
the hydrolysis of the acyl group at the second position of glycerol in unusual, bioactive
phospholipids (Fig. 1). Thus, as categorized by enzymatic activity, they are phospholipases
