The bacteria Chlamydia has always been an odd bug, causing an illness in parrots as well
as sexually transmitted diseases. Now a recently discovered species, C. pneumoniae, offers
an even bigger surprise: It consistently turns up in the arteries of patients with
atherosclerosis.
