The great need for the prevention of poliomyelitis prompted this study of the effects of
parents' whole blood and convalescent serum used solely as a prophylactic measure.
Poliomeylitis developed in a certain number of children who received the injections. We
have attempted to correlate the potency of the blood of the donors with the type of disease
experienced by the children and to compare the potency of the donor's blood with that of the
