We present the case of an asymptomatic HIV carrier, who presented with acute myeloblastic
leukemia in third relapse and successfully underwent autologous stem cell transplantation
as a rescue treatment. This observation supports the conclusion that tolerance of autologous
bone marrow or stem cell transplant in patients with HIV may correlate with a low viral
burden and relatively good immune function.
