Sphingosine kinases (Sphks), which catalyze the formation of sphingosine 1-phosphate
(S1P) from sphingosine, have been implicated as essential intracellular messengers in
inflammatory responses. Specifically, intracellular Sphk1-derived S1P was reported to be
