Death receptors, such as Fas and tumor necrosis factor-related apoptosis-inducing ligand
receptors, recruit Fas-associated death domain and pro-caspase-8 homodimers, which are
then autoproteolytically activated. Active caspase-8 is released into the cytoplasm, where it
