Purpose Obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and Western dietary pattern have been linked to
increased risk of cancer recurrence and mortality among patients with surgically resected
colorectal cancer. Excess energy balance leads to increased circulating insulin and
depressed levels of circulating insulin-like growth factor binding protein (IGFBP)-1, which
promote cancer cell growth in preclinical models.
Abstract
Purpose
Obesity, sedentary lifestyle, and Western dietary pattern have been linked to increased risk of cancer recurrence and mortality among patients with surgically resected colorectal cancer. Excess energy balance leads to increased circulating insulin and depressed levels of circulating insulin-like growth factor binding protein (IGFBP)-1, which promote cancer cell growth in preclinical models.
