MBs are characteristic cytoplasmic hyaline inclusions in hepatocytes and thus resemble a
peculiar manifestation of liver cell injury. MBs are morphologic hallmarks particularly of
alcoholic and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis, liver disorders with poorly understood
pathogenesis but considerable clinical importance. MBs share morphologic and
physicochemical features with inclusion bodies associated with chronic degenerative
