The subcutaneous tumors used were induced by two chemical carcinogens, MC and DBP,
in young adult mice of three inbred and two F1 hybrid strains. The pedigreed breeders of
C3H, BALB/c, and I were obtained from Dr. Andervont, National Institutes of Health, in 1959.
Two F1 hybrid combinations,(C3H x I) F1 and (BALB/c X C3H) F1, are derived from these
inbred strains. Skin grafting among members of the inbred stocks is performed at intervals
