Mouse tail scale epidermis was used as a model to evaluate anti‐parakeratotic activity of tar
oil acids (phenols) boiling between 175 and 400° C. Lower boiling phenols seemed to
cause more Irritation, whereas high boiling phenols caused granular layer induction in
formerly parakeratotic skin.
