Mutations in fukutin-related protein (FKRP) give rise to mild and more severe forms of
muscular dystrophy. FKRP patients have reduced glycosylation of the extracellular protein
dystroglycan, and FKRP itself shows sequence similarity to glycosyltransferases, implicating
