Accurate quantitation of the mitochondrial inner transmembrane potential (ΔΨ m) using
appropriate potentiometric fluorochromes reveals a ΔΨ m decrease in most if not all models
of apoptosis. This ΔΨ m decrease is an early event and thus precedes the activation of
