Hypothalamic target neurons of estrogen include neurosecretory neurons such as
gonadotropin-releasing hormone (GnRH) and dopamine neurons, and local circuitry
neurons such as proopiomelanocortin (POMC) and γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) neurons.
