Visual defects are considered from the point of view of vision as a part of general sensation rather than a special sense; and I hope that my results will demonstrate that the elementary visual perceptions, of light, of movement, and of an object, are dissociated in a manner similar to the dissociation which is known to occur when sensory paths conducting primary somatic sensory impressions of touch, of pain, of temperature are interrupted.
