Transaldolase (TAL) is a key enzyme of the reversible nonoxidative branch of the pentose
phosphate pathway (PPP) that is responsible for the generation of NADPH to maintain
glutathione at a reduced state (GSH) and, thus, to protect cellular integrity from reactive
