Intravenous administration of D-fructose to rats rapidly depletes liver adenosine triphosphate
and inorganic phosphate; marked elevations of uric acid and allantoin in plasma follow.
Concomitantly the incorporation of DL-leucine-1-14C into liver protein is almost completely
inhibited.
