Background Markers of γ-aminobutyric acid (GABA) neurotransmission seem to be altered in
the prefrontal cortex (PFC) of subjects with schizophrenia. We sought to determine whether
the expression of the messenger RNA (mRNA) for the synthesizing enzyme of GABA,
