Obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD) is a prevalent neuropsychiatric disorder affecting
children and adolescents as well as adults [1–9]. Early clinical descriptions of OCD noted a
childhood onset of the disorder in a substantial proportion of adult cases [10], and in 1903
Janet [11] first described a case of pediatric OCD. Further clinical reports of pediatric OCD
