Abstract Interleukin-23 (IL-23) and the recently discovered Th17 cells have been implicated
in the pathogenesis of autoimmune diseases. This review will discuss current understanding
of T-cell subsets in transplantation immunity and will explore the role of IL-23 and Th17 cells
in allograft rejection, tolerance, and ischemia reperfusion injury.
