Abstract
Daily vitamin D and calcium intake was estimated using a 1-week diet history in 24 girls and 20 boys 6 to 17 years old whose diet comprised mainly foods of vegetable origin and unleavened bread (group 1) and in 17 girls and 29 boys whose diet included animal protein and leavened bread (group 2). The average daily intakes of Ca and vitamin D were 433.86 ± 125.16 mg and 45.25 ± 10.78 IU, respectively, in group 1 and 829.78 ± 193.20 mg and 78.56 ± 17.88 IU, respectively, in group 2. Mean serum 25-hydroxycholecalciferol was 7.00 ± 0.51 ng/ml in group 1 and 12.27 ± 0.84 ng/ml in group 2.
