The complement receptor, type 1 (CR1) is expressed on a variety of cell types including
primate erythrocytes, phagocytic cells, and B lymphocytes. On these cells, CR1 plays a role
in a diverse spectrum of biological activities including the clearance of immune complexes
from the circulation, down-regulation of the complement system, recognition of complement-
