The homozygous young of the dominant white mouse ordinarily live throughout the whole
period of gestation and not infrequently for several days after birth. No evidence is found that
their prenatal death-rate is greater than that of the normal individuals of the same litter. They
are characterized, at least from the sixteenth day of gestation, by a special form of anemia
which is the real cause of death.
