anti-soluble liver antigen (SLA/LP) antibodies, there is no single test that proves or disproves
the diagnosis of AIH. Diagnosis is therefore based on the combination of history, clinical
examination and several laboratory and serological variables, the key features of which are
described in Table 1, together with liver biopsy findings. The usually prompt response to
immunosuppression proves the diagnosis.
