Publisher Summary Low-density lipoprotein (LDL) is an important mediator in the
pathogenesis of atherosclerosis. This chapter introduces methods to determine oxidation of
low-density lipoproteins. Evaluation of lipoprotein oxidation in vivo, however, is difficult, and
most of the investigations deal with in vitro oxidized LDL. During oxidation of LDL by cells or
in cell-free systems the composition of the lipoprotein particle progressively changes with
