In 1966, cholera appeared in Iraq. A tuberculosis hospital was reorganised specifically for
the treatment of cholera patients. Each ward was divided into separate sections for
intravenous therapy, oral therapy, and convalescence. It is suggested that, on first
appearance of cholera, a central hospital should be established for use as a training centre
from which teams can be sent to establish satellite units.
