The continuous growth of advanced malignancies almost universally correlates with the
reactivation of telomerase. While there is still a great deal of basic and applied research to
be done, telomerase remains a very attractive novel target for cancer therapeutics. In this
review, we will discuss the challenges and the pros and cons of the most promising
antitelomerase approaches currently being investigated.
