Abstract" Controlled exposure of rabbit intestinal loops to hypertonic sodium sulfate solution
produced consistent morphological alteration of the villus epithelium and inhibition of net
glucose absorption. Pre-exposure of jejunal loops in this manner did not alter the fluid
secretion induced by subsequent exposure to cholera exotoxin. The results further support
the concept that cholera exotoxin-induced fluid secretion originates from the crypts of
Lieberkuhn.".
