Publisher Summary This chapter discusses the colonic cell line, T 84, which has the capacity
to secrete Cl-in response to regulatory agents. Morphologically, the T 84 cell line retains
many characteristics of the major population of cells found in intestinal crypts, which appear
to be the Cl-secretory cells of the intestinal epithelium. Functionally, the cells possess many
receptor-mediated regulations for Cl-secretion similar to normal colon. The uniformity of
