Hereditary pancreatitis is a rare pancreatic disorder, accounting for approximately 1% of all
reported cases of pancreatitis. The symptoms, signs, and disease course resemble
commoner types of pancreatitis, but the onset of disease occurs at an early age—often in
childhood—and multiple members of the family are afflicted. The disease should be
suspected when the patient has characteristic findings of pancreatitis at an early age and
