Histological features of the proximal metaphysis of 8-week-old WT and IRS-1–/– mice. In Villanueva-Goldner staining for representative WT (a) and IRS-1–/– (b) littermates (originally ×20), mineralized bone is stained green and unmineralized osteoid is stained red. In TRAP staining for WT (c) and IRS-1–/– (d) littermates (originally ×100), TRAP-positive osteoclasts are stained red. Histomorphometric parameters are shown in Table 1.
