PSF mRNA expression increases during retinal neovascularization. The oxygen-induced model of retinopathy in the neonatal mouse was used. The atmospheric conditions at each stage, as well as the periods of retinal hypoxia and retinal neovascularization and regression, are indicated. Representative Northern blot analysis is presented for two different sets of experiments. A time course including the entire retinal response period (a) and an experiment focusing on the period of maximal retinal neovascularization (b) are presented. Quantitation of the experiment in b is also presented. All lanes demonstrate equal 18S RNA loading. As described previously, 36B4 undergoes some developmental regulation in this mouse model (58, 59). PX, postnatal day X; N, normoxic; H, hypoxic. When present, the number after the dash indicates hours after change in atmospheric condition.
