Lack of association of TR with NF-κB p65 subunit in the presence or absence of TRE. (a) TR and active form of NF-κB, p65, do not associate on TRE. EMSA using Lap-TRE revealed that TR formed a homodimer and a heterodimer complex with RXR. However, the presence of p65 did not affect TR binding and did not form a new retarded complex. (b) Protein-protein interaction between TR and p65 does not occur in the yeast two-hybrid system. Association of TR and RXR, or p65 and IκBβ, is evident. Data were expressed as mean ± SD from triplicate determinations. AP < 0.0001 vs. Gal4-DBD-TR, Gal4-AD.
