High blood pressure is multifactorial.

This schematic illustrates the possible relationships between candidate genes, sympathetic nervous system (SNS) activation, and stress-related hypertension. In their study in this issue of the JCI, Beetz et al. (1) report that PDC likely plays a role in modulating the adrenergic and blood pressure responses to stress.
