Endogenous expression of Bmi-1, Snail, PTEN, and E-cadherin in NPC cell lines and biopsies.

(A and B) Endogenous expression of Bmi-1, Snail, PTEN, and E-cadherin in NPEC and NPC cancer cell lines were examined by Western blot (A) and real-time RT-PCR (B). mRNA expression levels for Bmi-1, Snail, PTEN, and E-cadherin were normalized with respect to GAPDH in real-time RT-PCR experiments. Columns represent the mean from 3 parallel experiments. (C) Real-time RT-PCR data of Bmi-1, Snail, PTEN, and E-cadherin in 11 cases of NPC biopsies are presented as the fold change from the average expression levels in 2 normal tissues. Columns are the average of 3 parallel experiments. (D) Schematic representation of the major molecular mechanism of Bmi-1–induced EMT.
