Accentuated TNF, thrombocytopenia, D-dimer production, and decreased survival in LPS-treated Treml1–/– mice.

(A) WT and Treml1–/– mice (n = 18) were challenged i.p. with 6 mg/kg LPS. After 2 hours, blood was collected from the retroorbital plexus and serum TNF was assayed. Markers represent individual animals, and horizontal lines represent the mean. P = 0.01 by Mann-Whitney test. Survival was then monitored over the next 80 hours (C). P < 0.05 by log-rank test. (B) Mice of the indicated genotype were injected i.p. with LPS. Twenty-four hours later, plasma levels of D-dimer were determined. Markers represent individual animals, and horizontal lines represent the mean. P < 0.05 by Student’s t test.
