PTX alters airway contraction and relaxation responses.

FVB/N NTG mice were treated with vehicle (veh) or i.p. PTX for 18 hours. Airway resistance and the response to inhaled methacholine (mch) was determined in intact ventilated mice (see Methods). Studies were performed without (A) or with (B) pretreatment with inhaled isoproterenol (Iso). Results are from 5 independent experiments. #P < 0.01 versus vehicle.
