Lytic function of perforin expressed in RBL-1 and RBL-2H3 cells.

(A) Perforin-dependent 51Cr release from TNP-treated rbcs coincubated for 4 hours with RBL cells, in the presence or absence (–IgE) of anti–2,4-dinitrophenol IgE. Human and mouse perforin exhibited lytic activity after degranulation of RBL-2H3 cells. (B) In contrast, degranulation of RBL-1 cells expressing human perforin did not lead to rbc lysis.
