Cardiac growth due to diet in male and female HCM mice consuming a standard soy diet, a casein, phytoestrogen-free diet, or a casein diet supplemented with the phytoestrogens daidzein and genistein (PE diet) was found to occur in a sex-dependent fashion.

ANOVA main effects: diet, P < 0.0001; sex × diet, P < 0.05. n = 12–19 in each group except in those on the phytoestrogen-supplemented diet (n = 6).
