Vasoconstrictor effects of Ang II (1 μM) or [Pro11,DAla12]Ang I (1 μM) in mesenteric artery preparations from 7-week-old MC+/+ (left panel) and Kitw/Kitw-v mice (right panel). Results are expressed as the peak change in vessel diameter (μm), where a decrease in vessel diameter represents vasoconstriction. Each mesenteric artery preparation was subjected to Ang II or [Pro11,DAla12]Ang I only once to preclude the effects of tachyphylaxis. Values are mean ± SEM, and n = 5–6 in each group. Comparison between the [Pro11,DAla12]Ang I responses in mesenteric artery preparations from MC+/+ mice in the presence or absence of 10 μM losartan was made using the unpaired Student’s t test; *P < 0.001. P < 0.001 for inter-genotype comparisons.
