Western blot for detection of α-hemolysin. An immunoblot of culture supernatants of the indicated S. aureus strains precultured in the absence (controls) or presence of 30 and 50 μg/ml salicylic acid to the early stationary phase (18 hours) was probed for α-hemolysin. Affinity-purified rabbit polyclonal anti–α-hemolysin IgG was used as the primary antibody. SAL, salicylic acid.
