iNOS inhibition in oxygen-incubated iNOS+/+ mice. iNOS+/+ littermates were treated with the iNOS inhibitor 1400W or NaCl. Retinal flat-mounts at P17 show a significant reduction in the size of the central capillary-free area in 1400W-treated iNOS+/+ mice compared with the NaCl-injected control group (AP = 0.0006; n = 6) (a). Furthermore, the intravitreal neovascularization at P17 is significantly reduced in 1400W-treated mice compared with control (BP < 0.0001; n = 6) (b).
