Average HDL in heterozygotes for each mutation (expressed as a percentage of mean HDL in the unaffected members of that family) are plotted against the efflux levels measured in a heterozygous carrier of each mutation. Efflux levels are highly correlated with levels of HDL cholesterol and are associated with 82% of the variation in HDL-C.
